Heritage

Sunderland’s name comes from the flying boats operated by 5 Squadron and 6 Squadron RNZAF from their base at Hobsonville Point. Paying tribute to the aviation history behind the name are the 19 restored former air force homes within Sunderland today.

The insightful and considered refurbishment of the heritage homes at Sunderland has been guided by acclaimed heritage architects Salmond Reed. The integration of heritage houses with contemporary new homes designed by Studio Pacific Architecture distinguishes Sunderland from other precincts at Hobsonville Point.
